Training and spaced repetition
Library uses spaced repetition to schedule Flashcard reviews. Prepare the material in your Studies, then return to it through short sessions of active recall on the board.
Start with Flashcards that are due
- Open Training.
- Use the start-training dialog to include Flashcards due for review.
- Start the session and follow the prompts on the board.
If you want a narrower session, use Custom Training to select Folders or Studies with Flashcards enabled.
You can also open Flashcards, select Flashcards yourself, and click Start Training. This is useful when you want to revisit one opening or practice a particular set of tactics.
Complete a session
Play the requested move, or work toward the objective for a Goal Flashcard. Read the feedback before moving on. When you need help, use the available hint and then return to the Study if the explanation is still unclear.

The selected Flashcard type determines what completes the exercise. Tactic completion settings can also change how many solution branches you need to play.
The session ends when there are no more pending Flashcards in that training set. That does not mean you have exhausted all material in your Library.
Learning and Remembering
| Phase | What it means |
|---|---|
| Learning | The Flashcard is reviewed frequently while you become familiar with it. Consecutive correct answers allow it to graduate. |
| Remembering | The Flashcard is reviewed at increasing intervals after correct answers, up to the configured maximum. |
The phases help separate new material from material you are maintaining. The next due time tells you when a Flashcard is scheduled for another review.
Under Settings → Flashcards, you can adjust the scheduling parameters for each Flashcard type, including learning requirements and review intervals. Start with the defaults and change them only when you understand what you want to improve about your sessions.
Keep the workload manageable
Try this routine:
- Review the Flashcards that matter most before your next games.
- When a move is difficult to recall, improve its explanation in the Study.
- After playing, add one useful lesson from a game.
- Expand the collection as you become comfortable with the existing workload.
If a large import produces more material than you want to train, select a smaller set of Studies or a single Folder. You can keep reference material in Library without enabling Flashcards for every Study.
If there are no Flashcards to train
Check that Flashcards are enabled and that Opening or Tactic Studies contain moves for the side you are practicing. If Flashcards exist but none are due, review the full Flashcard collection or return at the next scheduled time.
