Frequently asked questions

What is Chessvision.ai Library?

Library is a place to collect chess positions, develop them into Studies, and practice them with Flashcards. You can organize material into Folders and use it for opening preparation, tactics, middlegames, and endgames.

Start with the Library tutorial.

Is Library only for studying openings?

No. Opening tools help with repertoire preparation, while Tactic and Goal Flashcards support other kinds of chess learning. A mating combination and a practical rook endgame can each become training material.

What is the difference between a Study and a Flashcard?

A Study holds the chess material you explore and annotate. Flashcards are exercises generated when you enable training for a Study. You can keep a Study for reference without enabling Flashcards.

See Studies and Folders and Flashcards.

Which Flashcard type should I use?

Use Opening to recall decisions across prepared lines, Tactic to practice concrete continuations, and Goal to reach a target against computer responses. The Flashcard comparison explains each type.

Where are the positions I save with the scanner?

After scanning, click or tap the star/save button to save the position. Then check Inbox in Library using the same Chessvision.ai account as the scanner. See Save scanned positions.

Can I import PGN or FEN?

Yes. Choose + New → Study, then From PGN or From FEN. PGN is for games and variations; FEN is for a single position. See Import and export.

Can I export a Study?

Use Export to PGN from the Study menu when available. Library also has a bulk export action for selected Studies. See Export Studies to PGN.

Do I need to connect Chess.com or Lichess?

A game-account connection is useful for Opening Assistant and Insights. You can also create Studies, bring in positions, and develop your own material without connecting a playing account.

Will training test every tactical response?

Tactic training can cover all solution lines included in the Study, or one random line, depending on the completion mode in Training settings. Add the defenses you want to practice before training. See Tactic Flashcards.

Why are there Flashcards in Library but none due?

The collection and the review schedule are different views of your material. Cards may exist but have a future due time. Check the full Flashcards view and its filters, or return when the next review is due.

Is Library free?

Free access includes limited Studies and Flashcards. Chessvision.ai Membership includes unlimited Studies and Flashcards. The eBook Reader has a separate subscription. See Subscription Plans and the app for current details.
