Troubleshooting

Use the checks below to narrow down a problem in Chessvision.ai Library. If you still need help, contact us with the steps and error message.

Missing saved positions

  1. Confirm that Library and the scanner are signed in to the same Chessvision.ai account.
  2. For a scanned position, confirm that you clicked or tapped the star/save button after scanning. This action is required to save the position to Library.
  3. Check Inbox, then search the Folders where you may have moved the Study.
  4. If the position came through a connected service, open Integrations and check the connection.
  5. Check your internet connection, then refresh Library and look again.

If the position is still missing, include which scanner or integration you used when contacting support. See Save scanned positions for the normal workflow.

A scanned position is incorrect

Compare the board with the original image. Check the piece locations, the side to move, board orientation, and castling rights.

Correct the position in the scanner before saving it. The existing guides explain editing for the Mobile App and Browser Extension.

For direct position entry in Library, use Setup when creating a Study from FEN. Remember that flipping the board changes the view; it does not change whose turn it is.

PGN or FEN import problems

Check that you selected the correct import tab. A FEN describes one position; a PGN contains a move sequence and optional game information.

For PGN, try one game first. Check that the move list ends with a result such as 1-0, 0-1, or 1/2-1/2, or with * for an unfinished game. Remove surrounding article text or formatting that is not part of the PGN.

For FEN, check that you copied the complete value and that the position is legal. If needed, use Setup to enter the board manually.

See Import and export for the steps.

Flashcards are missing

  1. Open the Study and confirm Flashcards is enabled.
  2. Check its Flashcard type and the side selected under Study as.
  3. For Opening and Tactic Studies, check that there are moves to train.
  4. In Flashcards, clear search, type, phase, and tag filters.
  5. Check all Flashcards as well as due Flashcards; an existing Flashcard may not be due yet.

If you are using Custom Training, confirm you selected a Folder or Study containing enabled Flashcards. See Training.

I cannot change the side I am studying

The Study's playing-side selector is locked while Flashcards are enabled. Check the selected side before creating training material.

If you need to change an existing Study, review the app's confirmation when disabling Flashcards before changing the side. Do not assume that disabling and recreating Flashcards preserves their review history.

Opening Assistant shows no useful results

Check the Chess.com or Lichess username in Integrations. Then check the game source, color, time-control, game-count, and Study filters in Opening Assistant.

Try broadening the filters. If the account has little relevant game history, there may not be enough material to produce the opening results you expect.

Opening Insights do not match my preparation

Confirm that the relevant Studies have the Opening tag and contain the lines you want to compare. Check the game-account connection and selected filters as well.

Putting a Study in an Openings Folder is an organizational choice; the tag identifies it for opening Insights. See Find gaps in your opening preparation.

No videos match a position

Video results depend on whether a matching position has been found in the available videos. An empty result does not prevent you from analyzing the position, adding comments, or training the Study.

Double-check that the position and side to move are correct. You can also examine nearby positions in the line for useful explanations.

Goal training says the goal was not reached

Check the chosen goal and the resulting position. The app verifies the target with its engine settings when you click Claim Goal Reached.

Review whether you still have the required advantage or equality, and try the position again. If the outcome is surprising, include the starting position, target, and moves when reporting the problem.

A feature or import is unavailable

Check any explanation shown in the app and review Subscription Plans. Library and the eBook Reader have different subscription coverage; importing diagrams through From Reader requires an active Reader subscription.

An integration marked Coming soon cannot be connected yet.
