Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use the Reader on my phone or tablet?

Of course, the Reader is fully mobile-friendly and all the features are available both on desktops and mobiles.

We put a lot of effort into making the mobile experience the best it can be.

In portrait orientation on smaller devices, e.g. on a phone, the book view and the analysis view are in separate tabs. On larger devices, e.g. tablets, the view is the same as on the desktop devices.

To use the Reader on mobile, open https://ebook.chessvision.ai in a browser on your mobile device.

Can I resize the analysis board?

You can resize the Analysis Board by dragging its edge with a mouse (or a finger if you are on mobile).

First, hover with a mouse over the edge and wait for the resize cursor to show up. Then drag it with a mouse to adjust the size however you like:

Can I export all diagrams to a single PGN?

Bulk export is not available, at least not at the moment.

However, you can use the Study Creator to select diagrams you want to export and then easily export them either as PGN or PDF.

The bulk export may be added in the future but this would require the app to correctly predict whose turn is it for all the diagrams.

If it does get added we will certainly announce it on all our channels.

Engine version and limitations

If you search for an answer to any of the following questions:

  • Why is the newest Stockfish version, e.g. 14+, not available?

  • Why cannot I enable NNUE?

Then the reason for this is that the extension uses the embedded Lichess analysis board and it can be only embedded in such a limited way i.e. Stockfish 10+ WASM, no NNUE, and limited engine options.

Whenever you need these options we recommend clicking the "Share" button just above the analysis board and selecting "Lichess.org" which opens the diagram you want to analyze directly in Lichess analysis where all the options are available.

In the future, we are planning to add our custom analysis board that won't have these limitations so everyone will be able to use more powerful analysis directly in our apps.
